Got the keys!
May. 27th, 2013 04:53 pmThis morning I drove through rather mild traffic (considering the A2 is being worked on and was closed down yesterday!) to 's-Hertogenbosch. I was too early, which prompted me to go look for a sewing machine store, but one was a home address and the other was closed. Poo.
At Interveste I read the rental contract (you have no rights, no none at all, if the building burns down we don't have to offer you a new place to live, good luck) and signed, paid the first month rent, a security deposit, the costs for their involvement and for a fire safety kit and left with three keys and a sum of € 900,- lighter. (Of course, the deposit of more than € 300,- will be returned to me after I leave.)
I called Tim and my mom and drove to Boxtel, stopping at Gamma to pick up some spackle and paint. I opened the door to my room for the first time and was a little amazed. It was in a better state than I remembered, and the spackle I had bought to fill holes in the walls could be returned unused. All that was to be said about the room was that there is a little black smear of probably a chair on one of the walls. And the drapes are very dirty, but I had counted on taking them back and washing them.
I dragged all the things I had in my car up the stairs to my room and spent the next hour putting down painting plastic to protect the carpet and things from my paint endeavours. I can't even reach the ceiling when standing on a chair, so that bit has to wait until I can drag a little step-ladder down there.
My week planning
Monday: homework, skype meeting, packing
Tuesday: work, dancing lesson, more packing
Wednesday: work, painting with Tim in Boxtel
Thursday: work, pick up matrass at Ikea and drop it in Boxtel.
Friday: work, koopavond.
Saturday: work, final throes of packing, disassembly
Sunday: further disassembly, moving.
I think we're set with the people who have so far offered to help, but if you want to join in the fun, drop me a line.
