Logistically challenged
Dec. 19th, 2012 04:50 pmI found myself at a crossroads between no and where in Sprang-Capelle, hub of bus traffic in the region where all buses go to Den Bosch or Tilburg and if you're lucky, stop underway in different towns. I was waiting for a bus that never came, finally taking the 136 that would drop me off at the hospital too late. I had chosen an earlier connection since the 136 would arrive at 13.01 but Fate and the mighty Veolia bus company decided differently. *sigh*
After my treatment I went back by the same 136 and hopped on my bike for Christmas Box #1, a gift from Albron for working so much this summer. I hadn't expected it, but was all the more pleased for it. I cycled down to 't Laar, where I received a lovely box and had a cup of coffee with Gerda, José and Brigitte and then went home.
Fate thwarted me again as my left bike pedal broke down one street from the Korvelseweg. I sighed and started walking, still having some trouble with that knot in my left calf that just doesn't seem to want to go away.
Halfway down the Korvelseweg I found a bike repair shop, where for € 12,50 they would put on a replacement second-hand pedal. I went out to get some cash, but the ATMs were down. I paid ten euro's and promised to return with the rest later this week. Real nice of these men to help me out like this, the walk from their shop home would have taken me an hour or so, and my calf would not be happy with that.
Of course I needed chocolate cookies by the time I got home. The Christmas Box held an steel pancake pan (stalen flensjespan), recipes for pancakes (*snort* ... why?), honey sticks, powdered sugar, three ugly red bowls, and marshmallows. That is: everything I can't eat with my rosacea, but they missed speculaas to get the full set. Still, it's a nice thought and the steel pan will work very well on any campfire.
Tonight I'm going to school so I'm bound to have some more interesting things happen to me while en route, I'm sure. Even if it's only knitting a gnomensok.
NoKey is the lucky one taking the cats to the vet. Dusty's probably got a bladder infection.
