Today's funny news
Dec. 5th, 2012 03:22 pmIn other news, today I read on Nu.nl that the police are using Zwarte Pieten (similar to Santa's little elves, people dressed up for the seasonal holiday Sinterklaas) to keep an eye out on the street.
Pretty ingenious, I say. I can just hear the watercooler gossip at the police station as half of the force is dressing up and being catcalled for their colourful attire. *grin*
Police set Black Petes as spy
AMSTERDAM - The Rotterdam police deployed policemen disguised as Black Pete to observe suspicious situations.
"When people see Black Peter, they think themselves unobserved," said a police spokesman.
The Picts are using a radio in connection with colleagues in uniform. "They never apprehend people themselves, their colleagues do."
This week the so-called Relay Petes saw youngsters behaving suspiciously. "They warned their colleagues, the boys were checked. One of them had a stolen iPad."
