After the lovely breakfast buffet we walked a pleasant 15 minutes to the nearby sauna. Ice had formed around each individual leaf and grass stalk along the route during the very cold night. Just in time for the free cup of coffee (before 10 am) we were soon immersed in spa and wellness.
While NoKey was off to explore a plethora of warm and hot, colourful, musical and moist sauna's, I tried to do some laps in the outdoor swimming pool. As mentioned earlier, my rosacea will not allow me into warm environments (deserts, sauna's and sunshine) and neither am I allowed to shower too hot (40+ °C) or submerse into swimming pools. However, rules are meant to be bent, and since only my facial skin is really suffering from UV-damage, I imagined hot tubs would be permissable. I alternated between swimming laps, the hot tubs outside with instant air conditioning (a balmy 5°C) and a handy footbath. Following BigBoss' suggestion I booked a HotStone massage at 14:15, an hour after a very full and luxurious lunch buffet.
The Hot Stones were exactly that: hot and smooth 'Mexican Lava Stones'. The massage was fine, although it did little for my tense shoulder muscles.
As I was just stumbling back inside (the massage was in one of the outdoor cottages), I noticed a familiar face: Aladin with his Natsjenka, friends from Maerquin. We really can't show our faces anywhere without running into familiar larpers: the Utrecht tram, a train in Hilversum, or even a remote sauna in Harderwijk.
It was so nice chatting with them, we decided to stay even longer and join them for the dinner buffet.
And so it was that around eleven PM, after nearly thirteen hours of relaxation, we walked back to our castle room to feed the dragon (or so my mother insist we do before going to sleep). As soon as we find Smaug, we will be sure to send a juicy sweet hobbit its way. But first, it is time for some well-deserved sleep.
