Catching up on everything
Sep. 7th, 2012 10:05 amAfter a few very busy weeks with many evenings away from home, this week was gloriously quiet. Only one night of school (combining two different lessons even so I could catch up a bit) and the rest of the nights off.
I've still got a lot of work, I've been scheduled three to four days and even though these are short days of three to five hours each, they're intense and quite a work-out. I've mentioned this before. My back isn't liking the work either, there's more strain on the upper back than before, and it's not getting used to it quite quickly enough. If I bend over a lot, my lower back protests, but by putting the dishwasher trays up on the shelf or on the cart of dishes, my upper back (right between the shoulder blades) pays the price.
Lucky for me it's nothing rest can't fix, and by sitting on the couch with enough support for my back and knitting a bit, the sore spots get enough rest so I can continue work the next day. However, a school night (sitting on stools) or swordfighting practice are out. I e-mailed Merlyn to say as much, but I'm hoping to get back to it soon!
I also e-mailed the Open-Air museum that due to school I won't be coming in until October. This will get me a much-needed break and also gives me time to study and catch up on homework. I was behind several exercises (five or six of them!) and have used some of my free time to catch up. I'm down to only having to do the one Teacher Henny handed to me last Monday, so I'm all caught up again.
The rest of the spare time was spent catching up on other types of home work: vacuuming, the dishes, mopping and cleaning. *sigh*
I just didn't have the energy, what with being away from the house most of the evenings in previous weeks. I'll tell you: for someone being so particular about how things are cleaned, NoKey doesn't get around to cleaning a lot. He just hardly ever starts on it, although it must be said he is starting to remember the garbage truck's schedule and obediently puts the bin at the street edge when I have school. (It's just no fun putting out the trash when it's nearly midnight and you just got home.)
Here I find myself on Friday morning. I'm looking forward to a final three hours of work later and the house is mostly all cleaned up for the weekend. I'm planning to clean the upstairs bathroom and finish that last homework assignment today which only leaves us with a clean house, pancakes, a shower that needs attention and a mostly empty agenda for the weekend. My dad is celebrating his birthday on Sunday, but perhaps we could do a cycling trip tomorrow. It's going to be lovely weather, after all.
