Maerquin was a lot of fun because I was wound up the two major plot lines I could identify. The tourney, in itself not so very interesting except that I was trying to get one of the knights wrapped around my finger. And the plot with the Gods. I remember we tried many things, but all of them were confusing or failed.
It was tricky, that. If we had failed for much longer, it wouldn't have been fun any more.

I have a problem with writing my story these days. It's a trend I've been noticing. In the earlier days I wrote the story of each larp in a day. At first this was easy as I didn't experience very much but as I got better at finding things to do or thinking of things to go and do, the things I experienced got longer and more intricate and before you know it it takes three days to write down properly what your character did.

That is also in part the reason why yesterday's epos may sound a bit... unfeeling. It's properly written prose, and might not give you an interesting read. At some point I just wanted to be done with it.

Writing about larp gets more difficult and more like a chore than being fun. But then, this particular event has me more worried about the 800 pictures Ank did with my camera than the words.
And I do need to write things down! Maerquin 29 wasn't written down because we were moving a few weeks after the event and I was wrapped up in preparations and I can only remember one thing about the event which I can't even share publicly here.

So yay! Maerquin was fun, it was in its own way very epic. I got to dance with a knight time and again and I could really enjoy the fresh bright young gnome portrayed by anemoona. I got to do balfolk, which I'd been wanting to do for years and I finally gave up on, and I found out I loved the jig, liked the scottish (but being belly-to-belly with said knight was a bit... uh... let's not go into that), and hated the hantedro.
And as always, I am very much looking forward to the next one. There's a short adventure in August and a barnight in September. (ooh, more dancing?)

Oh yes, and my skin behaved well! I was relieved.
I used SPF 50 on my face and once it dried I covered it with Marianne's make-up. On Omen I used the SPF 50 and got a burning feeling once I had been in the sun a bit. But Marianne isn't a fighter, and I stayed in the shade, so I got a lot less warm. That's better for my skin. I'm happy this worked, but am apprehensive for Drachenfest. I'm hoping for overcast skies and 15 degrees (like in 2006, but without the rain).

Ik vind het ook lastig om een larp te beschrijven. Er is vaak zoveel gebeurt en als je het in verhaalvorm op wil schrijven moet je zoveel extra's vertellen voor degene die er niet bij waren! Daar ben je dagen zoet mee (echte schrijvers doen vaak weken over één specifieke scene voordat die goed op papier staat, een heel weekend beschrijven is dan eigenlijk ook niet te doen). Ook wil je niet in het en toen, en toen, en toen vervallen. Als ik voor een verhaalvorm kies beschrijf ik meestal maar één scene die mij het meeste bij gebleven is. Dan blijft het ook behapbaar.

PS: meer balfolk! Gnooms kunnen goed dansen!

Ik doe meestal een momentopname die de sfeer goed beschrijft, vaak in de vorm van een voorstukje of nabeschouwing. Daar ademt ook de meeste sfeer uit voor mij zodat ik het karakter een paar maanden tot een half jaar later gemakkelijker kan oppakken.

Ik vond het heel erg leuk dat je ons uitgenodigd had! Maerquin staat al jaren op m'n todo lijst om een keertje bij te gaan kijken en het was leuk om dat eindelijk eens te kunnen doen! En wat ik zag beviel me heel erg ^^ Ik was dood nerveus voor het spelen, maar de sfeer en mensen was zo leuk, dat ik 's avonds gewoon kon spelen zonder me zorgen te maken =D Mochten jullie nog een keer NPC's nodig hebben voor korte dingen, por me vooral! En ik zal eens kijken wat ik kan doen voor een volgend evenement ;)
