Gardening Xtreme
Apr. 1st, 2012 09:44 pmThis morning I cycled to Kaatsheuvel to help
dolphirl and Rob in their garden. Judging by the container they had rented which was over halfway full when we started this morning, we displaced some four cubic meters of soil and stone.
Their garden is now a pit of 20 centimeters deep, waiting for the rest of the soil to be removed so white sand can be put in and the new tiles as well. Dolphirl and myself made good time clearing the stones from the terrace and tossing them into wheelbarrows while Rob and his brother Peter wheeled them to the container and emptied them. After a few hours of this intense labour the container was full and we were forced to call it a day.
I fixed my flat tire and waited for about an hour to see if the patch would hold and then cycled back. I hardly paid any mind to my diet today (cookies!) but I guess the sheer amount of manual labour will make up for at least some of it.
I am sore, but very content. 28 kilometers of cycling and then a lot of shoveling too. I will be so sorry in the morning when I can't hold a pencil anymore, but it was fun.
