Yesterday was a busy day. In the morning I had a test exam, to see if I could draft a pattern from scratch in the allotted time and work it out into separate pattern pieces (and yes, I could. Had an hour to spare, although I did make some dumb mistakes like setting the hip height to 26 centimeters whilst that was actually the hand width measurement. The lists with abbreviations and measurements are not that clear).

After the test exam I took a subway to my dad's where we had lunch and then I accompanied him to the hospital for his 14th chemotherapy. Oncology might not be the most cheerful department in the hospital (I guess the baby room in gynacology holds that title for most people, hands down), but the therapy room is bright, roomy, comfy and has free coffee and cheerful nurses. Bless them.

They dropped me off at Prinsenlaan and I took a subway to the center of town while dad would soak out on the couch, and I met up with Lanzaned, who bribed me with bonbons, although I'm still not sure why I needed bribing. *wink*
We had big coffees at Beans and Bagels and I bought NoKey some pressies and myself a lovely larp-worthy necklace that just needs an awesome dress to go with it. (Thaleia my muse is having a field day!)
We had a quick dinner at Dudok and then I went back to school. I wasn't much in the mood for my lesson, but I cheered up considerably as I got started. I finished the second welt pocket, this one with a flap, and Teacher Helen fit my leafy surcoat to size. Seeing as how I made this in the final two weeks before Drachenfest last year it's no wonder I didn't get around to it back then.

The pocketspiece now looks like this:

I was home, stumbling around in the dark, somewhere between 23.15 and 23.30. Some stupid neighbour shouting for his Wendy in the dark at 1 am woke me up and had me paralyzed in the bed, not quite waking up, but definitely not sleeping anymore, until the police took him away. When he finally shut up I saw a police van and a police car in the street near the crossroads. Ugh.

So today I'm taking it easy. The kitchen is a fucking mess, so I suppose I must do something about it, and I'm going to do the first bits of work on my next pocket as homework. I don't want to be caught out with half my homework done. That means basting and then sewing the next two welts onto the pattern piece (this is the curved welt pocket, with the welts cut on the bias and pressed into a curve to match the slit). I also need to pre-wash the skirt fabrics and tumble dry them, and trace the pattern for the skirt.
Tonight: swordfighting practice!
