Whoever shoots like this deserves all the agony they are getting!

Took me a while to get what you said. I thought at first you meant the way the photo was taken, but then I remembered you did some archery and I saw your point.

If she doesn't loose the finger, then yeah: loads of pain would follow...

I was thinking the following:
1) Man, she must have a really short arm.
2) If she doesn't have a short arm, what kind of stupid bow is that? (or what kind of idiot makes arrows that short and thinks it's smart?)
3) If it's not 1 or 2, she must not know how to use a bow.

3 would explain the finger.

And aside from the above, although it's not really clear in this photo of the movie poster, who fletches their arrows in glass anyway? I can't quite tell because the feathers are pretty see-through, but it also looked to me like the arrow was notched upside down, meaning the fletchings will hit the bow and your shot will most likely miss.

Of course I was so curious I watched the trailer, and OMG, CGI archery ahoy. *sigh*. No-one draws an arrow from a back quiver that fluidly. (Sometimes I am really happy we miss new movie trailers because of not having a TV. It saves a lot of aggravation.)

The same stoopid mistakes are made in movies in which swords are handled. That irritates me beyond measure as well, being a practitioner of kenjutsu.

And then I always wonder: is there no room then at all, in this multi-million dollar budget of the average movie, to at least consult a professional archer (or swordfighter, for that matter) for ONE MEASLY HOUR?? That's enought to prevent stoopid basic mistakes like this! Damn it, very likely, the experienced hobby enthusiast will do it for free!

At Phantasium I saw a booklet (at the swordfighting workshop) specifically aimed to instruct movie makers on European swordfighting techniques. It's out there.
The thing I always enjoy about my lessons is that we're learning a hundred different ways to kill the opponent as quickly as you can. You never see that in the movies. Except maybe that one scene in The Last Samurai when Lead Character gets ambushed in the city at night.

It's not much fun to watch people get killed. But it is fun to see a long, drawn-out, unrealistic battle, I suppose.

Fast shooting is quite possible in real life:

Um, I know? But you agree that this lady is really, really not any good with that bow, right?

Actually, even though they probably altered it with CGI and made her stand in certain ways that were not realistic because it looked cooler, they did consult with an archery expert. The girl in the picture actually trained for a while with a very skilled archer in preparation for the movie.
