This weekend's schedule was empty in principle except for a birthday party and homework. I still needed to draw patterns for a coat and a dress at half-scale, but as soon as I'd finished with the dress I hopped on the recumbent and set out for Charm. They were playing at my favorite location Land van Kleef, which is only 20 minutes by bike if I try my best at cycling fast.

Camera, black clothes resembling crew costume, and out and about I went. Unannounced (oops, sorry Orga!) I was still welcome to take some pictures and I am uploading them to Flickr as we speak.
It was fun to drop in on the game, even though it's an excuse for a lot of people to interrupt their play to say hi. Last time it was worse, so perhaps it's just a point of getting used to it.

I returned by the time it got dark, and my legs were already protesting at the abuse. The recumbent has the nice perk that it's far more of a work-out than the normal bicycle, so my leg muscles had to work for their dinner for a change.
However, as Charm ended on Sunday we had a birthday to attend in Kaatsheuvel (the next town over from Loon op Zand) and since we no longer have a car and the weather was nice we would cycle there as well. This time I opted for my normal bicycle, because my legs would not be so cooperative a second time, and we still made good time. We found the back door to the Efteling (drawing longing looks from my part as the rollercoaster went through a looping) and drooled at the theme parc's cottages that we passed. The route included a sand path (oops) but we arrived just before [livejournal.com profile] dolphirl and [livejournal.com profile] anemoona did.

We broke the world record of 'setting up a speedy birthday party'. Dolphirl baked pizza buns, set Anemoona and myself to decorating, NoKey to slicing cucumber, Anemoona to frying chiken and heating meatballs in tomato sauce while I mixed the salad and some dip sauce before most of the guests arrived from their weekend of Larp at Charm. There was so much food, we couldn't finish it all, even if we were 20 people strong!
We left at a quarter to eight, and it was already dark but we made good time, driving by De Moer instead of going over the sand path again, arriving home some 45 minutes later. A good trip, in short, and one that bears repeating.

Meanwhile, I'm uploading the pictures from Charm (view the entire set here) and I'm all set to finish my homework today before I leave for school.
