My laptop is having some problems with its power supply and since that's linked directly to the motherboard I am probably going to have to replace that. I hate taking minutes by hand (or rather, typing them out after the fact).

We're looking for parts (a motherboard) for an HP compaq laptop. Does anybody have either a part number 456609-001 or 456608-001 lying around that they can miss, or know where I can get one cheaply?

Much appreciated, thanks! =)

Your laptop model is the #6520?

It has the power jack soldered to the mother board. If it wiggle loose no power comes to the mother board.
The power jack can be repaired with new soldering, not so costly as a new motherboard.

There's nothing wrong woth the power jack (afaik). The problem is that the blue light that indicates the battery is charged when the laptop is off and on AC remains on all the time (even when AC power is disconnected) and the laptop itself will not power up (even without battery inserted).
This would suggest a problem somewhere in the power circuitry, but since I've got no schematcs of the board it's nigh impossible for me to figure out what it was exactly that broke on the mainboard.
Hence, the main board needs replacement.
