Atelier work
Dec. 23rd, 2011 04:48 pmToday saw me rooting out all the boxes and shuffling things about in the cupboards of the atelier. First order of business was to get the music going in there. I didn't hang up the speakers (the walls are far too full as it is, with nearly nothing to see but cupboards and shelves) but put everything in the cupboards instead. It's crazy how much I love these cupboards, they're perfect for fabrics (80 cm wide, and 40 cm deep on each shelf - Ikea).
I also glued a peg back into my inkle loom and found the first and so far only casualty of the move: one of the legs of my Pfaff quilter's table that fits perfectly around the arm of my sewing machine has broken off. I've set it with some glue and will not touch it for a while. Superglue to the rescue!
My original estimate of not being able to do any sewing until Christmas is exactly right. I guess I could start on some small projects tonight (there's a hole in the inner leg of my favorite pants) but 2012 will be the Year of the WIPs! I will finish off one WIP (or UFO, if you prefer) each month until there are no more to be done. I've got a full box, but truth be told they're not all mine. Of course you are welcome to join me and we'll make it a battle of the UFO's or: who can finish the most in a year's time?!
Now it's time for a cup of tea and then I'm off in search for the final box of haberdashery which holds such an important item: the chest with all of my buttons, for old projects and new!

Voor je begint met je project eerst even wassen dan merk je er niets van. Het oude atelier was op het noorden en nu ligt het op het oosten dus zoveel zon vangt het niet.
