Ikea spree
Nov. 24th, 2011 08:06 pmToday I went to Ikea with
diverteddreamer. I had rented an Opel Agila, which turned out to be way too small for our epic shopping trip.
There were three large rolls of underflooring for isolation, a bright gold foil-covered foam which is in no way to be frittered into a small car, especially when there's fifteen packets of laminaat floor stacked underneath. In the end we managed to wedge everything in around Diverteddreamer and we set out for Tilburg.
It seems like it's pretty regular for me to not have enough space in a car to drive safely home. This time I could see out the right hand window, but looking into the mirror on that side was tricky. We managed safely enough, even through the narrow streets of Tilburg and unpacked the car, double-parked and all, before getting a cup of tea.
We also removed the painter's tape from the livingroom and put up some privacy plastic until I can find an acceptable means of obscuring that large window we have in the living room. For now it just looks really unfriendly but we make do while not having blinds or curtains.
Tomorrow afternoon I make my way down there and then Nachtvisser will join us and help put the floor in. Until then it's time for packing mania. The bookcases will be delivered on Saturday, so we've got a fun-filled weekend ahead of us. T-minus 7 days...
I'm also a member of the Ikea family, which means free coffee with our next visit. This is a good thing since we will need additional shopping trips to Ikea in the new year (new desk for NoKey and a good chair to sit on behind the sewing machines). It's also a good thing since I spent way too much money at Ikea.
