Home Improvement: with pictures
Sep. 26th, 2011 09:16 amFinally, finally, after all that drama, we managed to FINISH the main bedroom. No whitewash can stop us, even if we have to tear down the ceiling and start over.
We didn't really do much on Friday night, and on Saturay I was forced to collapse into bed for some strange reason, where I slept for a few hours while NoKey tried to locate a missing supermarket. At least I got to finish the last layer of blue, and though it's anybody's guess why I fell into bed like that, I did try my best to make this second layer a good one. At least none of that horrible yellow is shining through anymore.

From Yellow to Blue: before & after.
I also finished planting more plants, so the garden has gone back to the "idle" state. That is: it's working, growing composting and growing weeds, but there's not much I can do about it now until the weeds get large enough to pull. The Groenrijk was having a sale, small plants for € 0,75 each, so I went overboard on two varieties of Geraniaceae (Ooievaarsbek), a kind of valerian that Wikipedia doesn't know, some asters, a Spiraea which the bees will love, and something that is supposedly a Eupatorium rugosum and was advertised to be 'leverkruid'. What with people naming plants after the illness they were treating it with, I figured it wouldn't hurt to have it in the garden. It's nickname or cultivar name or whatever is "Chocolate", so that's a pure win.
I also took some quite dreamy pictures of the flowers in my garden* which you can view here.
The garden is already attracting bees and hoverflies and we've had blackbirds making agry took! took! noises at us, so this will be even more fun once we set the Lisa loose out there. She'll go completely bonkers at trying to sniff everything. (Dusty will be too scared to even go out there, and when we put her in the middle of the yard she will either freeze up and be afraid to move, or bolt for the back door. If we're lucky.)
We left rather early, so once we got home I finished putting my correspondence in large folders while NoKey did the laundry.
I'm happy with my garden there, and soon we'll start on painting the livingroom ceiling and it's all downhill from there.

*) Because nobody will click that link if I say there's pictures of bee's butts under there.
