Well, today was the big day! I had a date with Marius to go to the Fantasy fair at the Castle De Haar around Breukelen or Vleuten. Somewhere in Holland.

Well, I put on my extra purdy goth dress, did my hair, make-up, hair again and finally I was ready. I was a bit early for my train (better early than late is my motto) and I was standing on the platform in my darker-than-goth dress, and my so-large-it-could-look-mysterious coat/cloak thingy. There was this old lady walking by me, pretending not to see me, but when she had passed me she looked back to really see what the **** I was wearing. *Giggle* So my day started off well.

When I arrived at Utrecht where I would switch trains and meet Marius, I got off the train, where I was immediatly adressed “Are you going to the fantasy fair? Is this the right train?” Well, it wasn’t and I introduced myself. Turns out she was Patty from the dutchelfwoodgroup (don’t freak out Sander and don’t you dare start on faith and destiny, she adressed me…and I’m getting to that part later, in another post) and she changed into her thieves outfit.
Well, we found Marius, and went to the right platform. It was really a weird experience that just going to that platform, the intensity of people in cloaks would speed up. When we got off the escalator, we were in Fantasy Heaven! All people in cloaks or dresses, there were a few musketeers, a few elves and a lot of normals looking their eyes out.

Well, we traveled and got there. The castle itself was beautiful, and much larger than Scottish pride Stirling Castle. And the gardens….oh….don’t get me started on the gardens.

Well, Marius and I went into some tents and found the Dutch Elfwood stand, where Henning and Michiel (Mike) and Jan. (we’ll get to Jan later as well, in another post). I finished a drawing in Marius’ dummy which I had started on the last meeting. And after that we walked around the gardens, I looked at wonderful dresses and mucho men with long hair, wearing leathery stuff mostly. Oh, yes. There was plenty to look at.

Then we returned to the tent and later I went for a bite when Marius was checking out Terry Pratchett (never read any of his books, so why would I be interested in him) and I bought baaaaaad stuff. You really don’t wanna know. A boot-knife and a book on wicca. Which I craved for a while. The knife more than the book by the way.

Then, I made a picture in Jan’s dummy, and we went for a walk in the park. Unfortunately we stumbled upon Marius who followed us around until we returned to the dutch elfwood stand.

The day was closed with the re-enactment of a Lord of the Rings joust/battle. There was one Nazgul, some orcs and uruk-hai and some weak humans, who unfortunately won the battle despite the fact I was the official battlecry-chanter of the uruk-hai. The uruk-hai battle chant sounds something like ‘ngininginnnnnnnggggiiaaaaannnhhhhgggggg’.

Jan offered to grab some grub but due to his means of transportation we had to say goodbye. So I left with Angelina (so sweet and innocent that you’d almost be scared to death of her) and Marius, who took another train and he waved us off.

Angelina and I made a detour to Burger King, where people were staring at us. There were people in the line saying “What is this?” at which I answered “That’s my food.” We hooked up with a girl from Enschede who was wearing the exact same dress as I and a guy who had a wonderful vampire-like coat on. Rob. We ate and giggled and discussed places where people can buy gothic clothes (we 3 were into that, Angelina wasn’t really) and giggled some more over students and blondes and especially: corpsballen!

Well we had fun. Me and my dress. Until my dad called just now! Ggrrrrrr
