After last d&d session we were preparing for more strife. Thamior acting weird, Uthar getting ready to up and leave, and Mariel trying to go absolutely fucking crazy in the middle of it all...it wasn't a good start for a solid group.
Luckily, this session was even worse. *grin* Cremion, a friend of Goofy who lives in lovely Amsterdam and comes from Zaanstad (I don't need to remind Tommy of that sing-song accent, I think), would join us because he was intrigued by the talks we had after last session, and would really like to see how it would turn out. He was just observing but got to roll a few dice for damage.

Cast:
Sir Jean (pronounciation:French)- paladin of Hieronymus, played by Keffie;
Uthar - half-orc barbarian, played by Goofy;
Thamior - elf wizard, played by our DM, JW;
Melvin - halfling sorceror, played by NoKey;
Mariel - elf priest of Ehlonna, played by me.

Thamior sat in front of the door, and Mariel woke up early in the morning. We made tea and waited for the hobbit to join us. Meanwhile, Uthar had left and went to the shipyard, and SirJean was off doing the paladinesque thing and getting a Magical Warhorse +5 or something.
So after breakfast, when SirJean returned, I chivvied him into my bedroom. Something along the lines of "Jean! Heel! Now."
I sat down, Jean remained standing (so he would be really looking down on me even more). And then I acted all sad. After all, the gossip had really hurt me and I wanted to know what he did to protect me. In the end, the talk boiled down to me stating that I could not take charge to keep the group together, and telling him "that somebody ought to".

Honestly, it was goading worthy of being called Aes Sedai-y. Mariel knew that if she were to give Jean the order to take charge, he'd buck until he found a way out. But by admitting she was not fit mentally to do it, and implying that somebody should take charge and keep and protect the party, he might have taken the bait.

So SirJean and Mariel set off to look for Uthar, while Thamior and Melvin went off to talk to the local alchemist. We finally found the note Uthar left, saying he'd be at the shipyard if any of us would need him. We went to the shipyard, but no Uthar. We then looked around the town, before I got the idea to cast Helping Hand, where a ghostly hand beckons the subject to follow. We waited in the middle of a square, so we got a good look on all directions.
Instead of Uthar though, we found our five counterparts. The black paladin, orc barbarian, kobold sorceror, human firemage and my own counterpart priestess.

Because Mariel sort of gave Sir Jean the defacto command of the party (not that it was hers to give, but she looked to him on what to do), and Jean said "run", Mariel tried to run. Tried to indeed. Before she could get away, she got hit by a barrage of magic missiles (40-11= 29 hp), and then the orc barbarian hit her for a neat 29 hp (40-11-29 = 0 hp). Luckily, I rolled and 18 on my fortitude save, so I didn't drop into unconsciousness right away. The downside to this was that I was still conscious when my counterpart placed her hands on my head and cast "Inflict Serious Wounds" (always wanted to see what that spell did) It hurt (40-11-29-22 = -22 hp).
So Mariel died.
Then SirJean died.
Then the counterparts went to the temple, where the others had arrived back, except for Uthar.
Then Melvin died.

We were all sitting around like "WHAT THE FUCK!?" when JW called us all into his study, one by one. Apparantly, we each had our own experiences. Uthar had also died, and his god, four times his height, just said "YOU FAILED ME" and smacked him around the room hereafter.
Come on, gods speak in capitals, everyone knows that
Mariel's god, Ehlonna, was very disappointed, and told her to get over Lorian, sort of.
The only one not dead was Thamior, but he's not much better off.

Our gods brought us all together, and we were explained that a demon prince was trying to gain godly status. The reason our gods themselves won't go 'down' and help is that if they did that, then their counterparts would too, and that would definitely be a bad thing. Can you imagine all the gods loose on the earth? Eeek! So they gave us the order to stick together and work together and solve this problem.
And then they sent us back.

It is about two days after we died, and the whole town was flattened. There's literally nothing left but the quayside, and rubble. We're just wearing some sort of robe, or shift, whatever. No weapons, no potions, etc. I'm afraid my staff+1 with an ego of 10 is gone too. And Thamior is in the sewers, hurt and hiding.

That's where the session ended. I'm very glad Mariel died, I must say, because now all the mental instability about Lorian and feeling guilty and not knowing whether to love or hate him is gone. My god said "GET OVER HIM ALREADY AND STOP BEING A SILLY BINT" (or some such) which makes my roleplay a lot better and easier. I could have cast Sanctuary (opponents can't attack you, and you can't attack), and gotten away, but Jean said 'run', so I ran.
Actually, OC I wouldn't have minded losing Mariel completely, but when she was standing in front of her god, roleplay-wise going on was the only logical option. OC I would have let her die, but IC I couldn't give up. *sigh*

I'm not much in favour of the whole message of the gods, seeing the gods, dying and living again (when has that ever happened in real life!) thing, but I must say JW made a good session and gave a good reason for us to not die, so I'll not speak up about the whole easy way out thing. At least now we learned to stick together.
