Our old apartment, up on the third floor, was never in much danger of being assaulted by humans or zombies. The cats enjoyed their sunshine on the balcony or in the windowsill in summer and winter alike and all was well with the world in a way only cats can enjoy it.

But then we moved to a house where the windowsill was practically a part of the street. This, of course, was very scary to all, but mostly to Dusty. NoKey raised her from a kitten, taught her to obey him, and she is still as tiny and scared as a little kitten sometimes.
This morning when I had breakfast the children were walking to school, and some of them pass by our house.

Dusty is adamant to defend her street and her windowsill from them, so she sits in the windowsill to stare defiance. It's just so sad that she is startled by them, and she hisses and tries to hit the window with her nails.
She's just a very silly cat, she really wants to defend her own, but she's just so darned scared at the same time. Poor wee kitty.

I scolded her until she got out of the windowsill and gave her a little cuddle and a chinrubbing to comfort her. She's now overseeing her domain from the thick blanket we've put up in the fauteuil for her, but I fear it will all start over again from Monday.
