We woke before the alarm, yesterdaymorning. And slowly got up. Too slowly, maybe. By the time we were in Utrecht it was later than expected, which limited our time on the market. Memo to me: lapjesmarkt closes around one.

We did walk amongst the stalls there and back again, and I scored on two meters of black cotton for only one euro. I had decided to wear my long black skirt, with white polyester wide-sleeved blouse and a grey skai leather top. Since polyester is not very sweat-friendly and skai leather doesn't allow air to pass through, never mind water, I was sweating because of the beautiful weather we were enjoying. In other words: time for a black cotton wench-blouse.

The rest of the market was kind of dipper, since there were a lot of 3+ euro's a meter stalls, and we were going for the cheap-ass stuff. Nevertheless, NoKey bought some more cream-coloured satin at the same stall he bought the very soft blue satin for that nightgown last time.
Further down the market, I thought about buying fake-animal skin (the kind with the zigzag weave in there, so unusable for anything large), but decided against it. Even though it was pretty cheap for it's kind. At Schroeder it's the same price if I change my mind.

We ran into the people from Annic Mail (I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] steelweaver knows that site), and we talked a bit. They had bought all of the dark blue stretch cotton from forementioned 50-cents-a-meter stall, and told us about a great idea they had for the O'Leary's at next Lands in Exile. But we wanted to browse some more, and swiftly said our goodbye's. They have an attic filled with cloth (jealous!) and visit that market every saturday (envy!).

I did find some gold-coloured cotton for the sash for one of the pending orders, and I bought a meter of that. If Voltar approves of it, I can go back to buy more of it for his upcoming order.
When NoKey was looking for bias-ribbon, I strolled the rest of the stalls for some blue for that order, but I couldn't find anything nice. I did see some nice viscose (also natural fabric that breathes) but it was 20 eurii the meter and I figured I'd rather make a coat of my own skin then spend 60 euro's on a coat for someone I don't really like. It wasn't the BEST fabric either. Not at all what I had in mind. So I left that there.

Across the road I thought I saw something in royal blue, but it turned out to be dark purple microfibre. And I bought 3 meters of that and one meter of light purple microfibre. Not sure what I'll make out of it, but I'm sure NoKey has some thoughts on that.

By then, the cars were rolling in and the stalls were closing. So we walked to the King Arthur at the Oude Gracht, and I had lunch there. Then onwards to our favourite (but expensive) passimenterie for some radical buttons and ribbons. And then to the Elf shop to see if they had program books (with our picture in it) but they were out. So we walked back. Where we ran into the street muscicians I had seen when I was doing that boring internship in Nijmegen. Mr. Klimovic Hennadzi, and his accordeonist. We sat down for lunch for NoKey and an icecream for me, and listened to the beautiful music of the Belarussian Cimbal. We also talked a bit with them, and they enjoyed that so many people were stopping to listen to them, that much was sure.

But we had to be on, to the Dutch Elfwood Meeting. That was fun too, the Florin is a nice pub and has character (and outrageous prices for beer and other drinks). NoKey went out to pick up a dummy for drawing patterns in it, and laboured on four (!) drawings. I busied myself with drawings in other people's dummies and received three drawings in return.

After six pm, we went to Mr.Jacks and ate greek/italian food there. I loaded up on meat in a Giros dish (a lot of meat, some tzaziki and a little ball of rice with tomato-sauce) while NoKey munched his pizza Milano.
The train trip home was over before we knew it.
