Birthday parties and barbeques
Jul. 8th, 2013 01:13 pmAfter work on Saturday I drove to Hilversum for Tim's birthday. We had a blast, barbequeing and lounging and after all the guests left only Sylvitharion and I stayed over with Tim and Yava'in.
The following morning I was up at eight *groan* and around ten we'd had fresh rolls for breakfast, Gûrron had arrived and were unpacking the card games. We did a round of Burn in Hell, a sort of multi-dimensional Go Fish with the souls of the departed (ranging from Jane Austen to Adolf Hitler), followed by a round of Aye Evil Autherdir (officially called Aye Evil Overlord). It's a roleplaying card game, where the Evil Overlord asks his minions "What Went Wrong?". They have to explain their actions by the cards they are dealt ("Well, we bought a melting sword from shady dealer...") and keep pointing at one another to take the blame. The game ends when one of the minions has received three Withering Stares from the Evil Overlord.
Tim is a master at this game and never receives Withering Stares. This is rather worrying.
The first people started arriving for the second barbeque and soon enough the room was chaotically buzzing with Drachenfest talk. We had a great time preparing rituals and getting in the mood, and I felt really happy this was the group we'd go kick some German butt with. We're growing much tighter as a group, and to my surprise everyone is okay with the more intense roleplay, the more extreme rank difference (showing more respect to the Autherdir, military-style) as well as the more phyiscal play (actually slapping or show-slapping people).
I think we really ARE going to kick butt this year, and I am very much looking forward to it!
I left with a happy buzz but really tired, taking the time for an ice cream on the road and crashing into bed as soon as I got home. This morning, after a shower and breakfast with strawberries (thank you,
polychromical!) I resumed work on the gambeson. Only 2 weeks to go!
