Snelle terugbeller

Ik werd zojuist gebeld op mijn zakelijke nummer door KPN - dat ze hun netwerk (voor internet) in Tilburg hadden geoptimaliseerd, en dat we elkaar daar in het verleden over hadden gesproken.
En ik ben dan scherp, en zeg "Neehoor, dat hebben we niet" want ik heb alle abonnementen en verzekeringen voor het nieuwe huis afgesloten en weet dus donders goed met welke bedrijven ik gesproken heb.
Meneer reageerde: "Ja, dat was in 2022..."
Mijn reactie: "Oh, dan bel je lekker op tijd terug!"

Hij vroeg of ik wellicht genegen was over te stappen als ze mij een beter aanbod konden doen, en ik reageerde dat ik helaas niet vrij was om over te stappen omdat ik recent nog een nieuw abonnement had afgesloten, maar ik nodigde hem uit om over vier jaar nog even terug te bellen.
Hij: "Oh, u heeft het lekker lang vast gezet?!"
Ik: "Nee, ik refereer aan uw snelle terugbeltermijn."
Ik heb hem aan het schateren gekregen, wat ik al heel wat vind voor een callcentermedewerker.

Ik ben hier de hele week voor al uw outbound sales en slechte komedie.

Any time someone indicts an entire demographic: red flag.
They say "the Jews, the gays, the blacks." If you hear that out of anyone's mouth: red flag. They want to declare they know everything they need to know about you without actually having a conversation with you. That takes effort, by the way, to learn who people are, to learn the nuances that distinguish one person from another, one person's thoughts, behaviours, actions, motivations from another. One of the greatest travesties what it is to be human is to tribalise in that way.
Generally, if someone feels comfortable categorising demographics in that way, it means they don't know many people from that demographic. That's really all that means. You've led an isolated life.

I love how the video is mainly aimed at encouraging people to think for themselves and not blindly trust what they read on the internet - but at the same time just drops this bombshell that applies to current affairs and the political landscape as well.

Kwibus en Doortje uit logeren

Omdat de krabpaal, de kattenbak en de poekies weg moesten zijn als er mensen kwamen kijken hadden we geregeld dat ze bij Marjolein en Matto mochten logeren. Het was maar voor twee nachtjes, maar leuk was het niet. Natuurlijk was er een heel concert in de auto en eenmaal daar was het ook niet de bedoeling. Marjolein had een aparte kamer voor ze kat-proof gemaakt waar ze konden zijn en rapporteerde hoe het ging:

Kwibus heeft het er zwaar mee volgens mij, heeft z'n brokjes niet op en zat in de kast bij het kussen van z'n zusje. Ik heb z'n brokjes bij hem gezet, en hem een eigen water gegeven, zodat Doortje en hij elkaar even wat kunnen ontwijken zonder dat iemand iets mist. :)
Doortje zat in Kwibus' carrier, was voor een split second heel verwarrend omdat ik dacht dat Kwibus op me af stevende voor kroels.

Maar DIT is een goed excuus om naar buiten te komen. Vooruit.

Ze vonden het absoluut niks, maar gelukkig was het maar voor twee nachtjes.

We are responsible for experiences that aren't our fault all the time. This is part of life.

Here's one way to think about the distinction between the two concepts. Fault is past tense. Responsibility is present tense. Fault results from choices that have already been made. Responsibility results from the choices you're currently making, every second of every day. You are choosing to read this. You are choosing to think about the concepts. You are choosing to accept or reject the concepts. It may be my fault that you think my ideas are lame, but you are responsible for coming to your own conclusions. It's not your fault that I chose to write this sentence, but you are still responsible for choosing to read it (or not).

There's a difference between blaming someone else for your situation and that person's actually being responsible for your sitiuation. Nobody else is ever responsible for your situation but you. Many people may be to blame for your unhappiness, but nobody is ever responsible for your unhappiness but you. This is because you always get to choose how you see things, how you react to things, how you value things. You always get to choose the metric by which to measure your experiences.
